| Rudder
For those with Hotfoot 20s (or other small performance keelboats) that want to upgrade to a rudder similar to those supplied with the Ultimate 20. This is also a high quality rudder for daysailing or PHRF racing with the Ultimate 20 (not legal for class one design racing). Carbon fiber over a wood core. Awlgrip finish. At right is shown one for a Hotfoot 20 with the head set up for a traditional pivoting tiller. Head in gloss white, and wetted section in epoxy primer. |

For one customer with a 30' sportboat of unknown ancestry, we scaled up the U20 planform and built it bulletproof with plenty of carbon over a douglas fir core (biax eglass finish). He's still realizing a significant weight savings over the (cracked) rudder that came with his boat. Shown below fresh out of the vacuum bag, the customer will be fairing and painting it himself.
Another variation on the U20 rudder was used on a Viper 640 (shown with epoxy primer finish on wetted length, and 2 part polyurethane on the head):
And for something completely different, here's a 6' deep lifting keel (carbon over a wood & foam core) for a customer hot rodding his Hotfoot - he'll be bolting a bulb on to the bottom of this:
