Design: R1901R
Rudder

This design came from a customer who wanted to minimize wetted area and sweepback.   Well known in the class, he knows what he's looking for in a fast rudder.

Fiberglass over Douglas Fir, it comes in right about minimum weight.

The design has been updated to take advantage of the 2003 rule changes.

Here's what one customer has had to say: "Its about half way through our season, so I thought I give you an update on your rudder. The boat is performing well. I'm competitive in our small fleet, so I know the rudder is helping.... Best, Rob"

Phil's Foils supports the Rhodes 19 class, donating a rudder for raffle at the 2003 Eastern Regionals:
" Phil:
The regatta went well. Your rudder was a big hit. It was won by [... ] from the Rockport fleet. She was thrilled to get it. People are very interested in your construction techniques and even more interested in your price. I think you will get an order to two. There were 22 boats at the event all of whom got your coupon in the registration bag."

And again, with a deeply discounted one for auction at the '95 Nationals.

Here's the first one, hot off of the milling machine:

A black & white pair... one with graphite finish on the blade, the 2nd for auction at the '95 Nationals.

This customer ordered a matching fiberglass tiller.  Also now incorporating a notch for the tiller stop in the rudder head (for those that aren't using a tube tiller):
