Rudder

The Martin 24-1 fleet has been evolving with new rudder shapes and a shift of the rudder location aft.   This shape was developed with the customer based on the general dimensions that other's were using, but with a nicer set of curves!

With a carbon fiber layup over a foam core, this is one very light upgrade!

Customer says [March '05]: "WOW! All I can say is wow! It looks great and they guys at [...] thought the same thing. Very impressive work for the amount of $$.... I/we just can't believe how light you got it! I will shoot you some "before & after" pics as soon as the install & paint work is done. Additionally, the rudder is a really good fit for a Martin 242 if they don't race OD;  Thanks again, Eric"

Here it is ready to go.  Finish in white epoxy primer.

After using the rudder I got another great email from the customer:

"Phil;

We all know that you build some GREAT foils, but the proof is in the results!

PYC/SYSCO Opening Day (the shake down race)--2nd

SYSCO Spring Regatta--2/1/1 for first overall.

SYSCO Spring Series--we are in a 3-way tie for first. We were still dialing in the rig for the first 2 races (3rd & 4th), but we are finishing the series strong (1st & 2nd) and we just need a bullet in race 5 to clinch the win!

The boat is FAST and it HANDLES in every wind range! Thanks for your GREAT work, great price point and FANTASTIC quality!    Eric"
